Blessed Alojzije Stepinac

His Feast is Saturday, February 10th.  This outstanding Croatian Catholic was Archbishop of Zagreb in Croatia during the difficult days of World War II.  He presented Catholic teachings clearly and courageously by word and deed.  He spoke of the rights of all nations including his own dear Croatia.  He was put on trial after the war by the communist government and was unjustly convicted; he spent his last sixteen years in prison and died on February 10, 1960.  He has been declared “a blessed of the Church” as a martyr, and many are working to promote his canonization as “a saint of the Church”.  May his example shine for all our Croatian people, as well as for all the faithful everywhere!
